The Cinque Terre are one of the most uncontaminated areas of the Mediterranean Riviera di Levante, located in the province of La Spezia, exactly on the stretch of coast from
Punta Mesco to Punta Montenero.
Precisely in this part of the coast are the five famous villages:
Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore.
In 1997, this area was declared
'' World Heritage Site '' by UNESCO ,
and in 1999 was instituted
and the marine protected area.
